2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and Hip Hop culture. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is presenting an extended showcase in 2022-2023 celebrating the anniversary through many of the Trust’s signature series, festivals, and special events. From dance performances and concerts to workshops and visual art exhibitions, the year-long celebration will explore the deep and complex culture surrounding Hip Hop. Anniversary Logo Design

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust commissioned local graphic designer and illustrator Brandon R. Jennings to create the logo for the Trust's 50th anniversary of hip hop celebrations. Jennings' design kicks off with the Hip Hop Summit and will serve as a connecting thread throughout ongoing events, concerts, and celebrations in 2023. Learn more about Jennings and his work below.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Brandon Jennings passionately immersed himself in the graphic design and illustration industry for the past 35 years. Brandon has also created his own brand Yourbranddesigns where he does freelance graphic design and illustration for various clients in the United States. He also co-founded with his brother Prints of the City which is a custom screen printing company in Pittsburgh, PA. Brandon has well over 30 years of experience in marketing, branding, graphic design, illustration, editorial illustration screen printing and fine art. Brandon has clients in Pittsburgh, PA Philadelphia, PA, New York NY, Washington, DC, Orlando FL, Las Vegas LV, and California.

He taught Graphic Design at Pittsburgh Technical College for 20 years. At PTC, Brandon has taught several classes such as: Color Theory, Typography, Design Fundamentals, Advertising Processes, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Corporate Design and Portfolio Development Class. He taught illustration classes at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, He has also taught adult and children drawing and illustration classes at Sweetwater Art Center in Sewickley, PA.

Brandon has exhibited his paintings in several art shows including The Mayor of Pittsburgh’s office, Carnegie Mellon University, The August Wilson Center for African American Culture, The August Wilson House, The Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, and Father Ryan’s Art Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Brandon is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and Point Park University. Brandon is a member the international Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he currently serves as the chapter Graphic Designer and Marketing Director.

In 1990 Brandon was voted the John L. Holloway “Best Editorial Cartoonist” amongst all the African American Newspapers in United States.
